Meridian, MS Disaster Recovery Project 10/31-11/24/2020

 

This is Milton's house.  It was heavily damaged by the tornado of 2017 and Milton has basically been living in his car since then.  NOMADS have been rebuilding this house from the frame up since late September, 2020.

As we arrive, the siding over the porch is being installed.

The drywall has just been mudded

and then primer painted.

In the rear, they are prepping for the rear deck

for the base of the stairway.

Installing handrails.

The final touch, the hand grip.

Cutting siding

and installing inside the end of the front porch,

and then on the ceiling of the porch.

Installing trim inside

and around windows,

then caulk and paint.

Installing trim on doors

and attic opening.

All interrior doors

are prepainted.

The porch trim has all been painted.

Levelling the kitchen floor.

Installing underlayment for vinyl floor.

Installing vinyl.

Installing doors

and baseboard.

Installing cabinets

and other odds 'n ends.

On 11/19 we had a ceremony with the relief agency

and the owner and NOMADS team

to turn this finished house 

over to the owner.

So our work here is finished and we move on.
