The scaffolding has been moved and the siding crew is nearly finished with the east wall

and they install more soffit and facial

Dan is especially gifted with "built in scaffolding" to install ceiling drywall

and Ron assists with the installation.
The electrical inspector wants 1 more smoke detector so Bob
and Stel try to find an electrical source for it.

They finally find a source after enlarging the attic access panel
and now they have to repair the ceiling around the opening

and install new trim.

Since electric & framing passed inspection, Gene begins installing insulation in bedroom 2.

The east wall is now complete and repainted so we tear down the scaffolding

and move it to the south wall.
Suzanne shows off her new toys which are used to hold siding level in place during installation and

Mary enjoys using the toys.

Ron and Dan are moving right along with drywall installation.

Carolyn and Linda painting siding for bedroom 2
and Susanne helps too.
It's been a busy week and Jodi takes a break to dance with homeowner Richard to close out the week.

Week 3 in Baton Rouge

On Saturday, we welcomed a new rig.

Our team for this week  are from the left, Lee Ann, Barre, Stel, Jodi, Suzanne, Mary, Ron, Ann & Max.

As we begin the new week, Ron and Barre begin removing the rest of the siding from the original structure so we can make the doorway and finish tying the two rooms together.

Then they add hangers  and

Barre and Max began installing purlins to attach the metal roof.

Meanwhile, Stel and Ron began framing the rough opening between buildings and framing the closet and bath in bedroom #2.

Its all hands on deck to install the sub-facia and hold the ladders.

Finally we are ready to install roofing on Bedroom 2.

The roofing crew.  Below for cutting, marking screw locations and moving the sheets of metal up to the roof and to hold ladders.  Those on the roof install the sheets.

About 2/3 of the roof is finished.

Meanwhile, crews take a break to set up scaffolding for the siding crew

and it takes nearly everyone to set it up.

The siding crew back in business and hard at work.

With most of the roof complete, it is time to close up for the week.
Since Max and Anne (right) are leaving as leaders, they get a farewell picture with homeowners Richard and Sandy.

Week 2 in Baton Rouge

Mark and Lisa left on Friday and were replaced 2 rigs.

The new group from the left are Stel, Jodi, Gary, Avis, Mark, Jo, Barre, Lee Ann, Rita, Dave, Suzanne, Max and Anne.

We got supplies over the weekend so we prepare to construct bedroom 2 to the opposite end of Richard and Sandy's house.

First, we tear off existing siding

and pre-cut studs & window rough openings because our deck lumber has not yet arrived.

The siding for bedroom #1 finally arrived so we paint it before installation.

Then we got our deck lumber and

constsruction on the deck begins.
Screws are preset and

then joist are installed and hangers added.

Glue is applied & deck plywood installed.

If it doesn't fit, cut it some more.

That air conditioner is a "head hazzard" so it has got to go.
Everyone helps to make sure we get this room under cover ASAP.

The rest of the siding must go &

the top of the sheeting cut to make room for the new rafters.

First wall goes up,

then rafters and wall studs.
Meanwhile, the painters begin cutting pre-painted siding and trim &

installing it.  Looks like it will match well.

Some people get to use new tools like this hardy board cutter.

Meanwhile, electrical wires need to be prepped and put into boxes so drywall can be installed.

Next day it rained hard and we worked at the church instead doing painting, staining and cleaning of the disaster parts and tool storage area.  Sorry we didn't take time for pics.  More fun next week, hopefully back at Richard and Sandy's house.
