Second Week at Wesley Center, Louisiana

Last Weekend, we all were able to attend a Point of Grace concert at the Baptist "Mega Church" in Alexandria, LA.

On Monday, it's back to work.

It's a very cool morning so we return to inside work.  We are painting two additional bathrooms in the main building but this one had damage from an air conditioner leak so we remove the damaged paint and drywall finish and
then patch the area while

the others prep and

paint

in undamaged

areas.

In the afternoon, we move outside and clean doors

in preparation for painting

while others  return to the pavilion to paint the beams

that were cleaned last week.

Next morning, again too cool for outside work, we move to the Dorms to paint the hallways

and there is

plenty of room for everyone

to share the efforts.

In the afternoon, we proceed to paint the

doors we cleaned earlier

and by the end of the week, some of the doors got their second coat.

Finally a really sunny day and we were able to capture a glimpse of the local inhabitants.

First week at Wesley Center, Louisiana

We have arrived in Woodworth, Louisiana at the Wesley Center which is a Retreat/conference center.  We are here to do work to keep the center updated and ready for various groups both public and private including government groups.

The main entrance in front of

the main building which houses the front desk, offices, meeting rooms and the kitchen and cafeteria..

To the right is the chapel and to the right of that is one dorm.

To the right of that is a meeting room center and to the right of that is the second dorm.
To the left of the main building is the Pavillion.

and to the left of that is a view of the lake which surrounds most of the property.

At the opposite end of the parking lot from the main building is our campground with full hookups.

Across the lake from the main building is a depiction of Christ which they call "the cross" and it is in need of cleaning and painting so that is one of our jobs.

We begin by renting a boom lift and after spraying the whole thing with "Awesome"
we begin to power wash the front and back.

This picture shows how much dirt we are removing.

It is too cool in the moring to paint outside so we begin to prep for painting

in two of the 4 bathrooms in the main building

which takes the efforts of
nearly everyone.

After the prep, the painting begins.

The air warms a bit so Jarrel begins power washing the blue frame of the pavilion

using this oversized scissor lift
and Joe keeps the cables and hoses free.

Later, Mark and Deb take over the cleaning

and they learn some new tricks of the job.

It has warmed up so we begin painting the cross using the big lift

as well as old fashioned scaffolding like this 10 foot step ladder.

or working from the ground. (Jodi manages to take a shadow "selfie"

All that remains is the middle section of the front so

we move to the dorms to paint the pillars

and stairways.

Others began using the lift to power wash the Zip Line tower and to apply stain the next day.

After the work on the dorms, we move to the fence around the new pool which has to be washed in prep. for painting.
We will be here for 2 more weeks so we will get back to this next week I'm sure.
