Second Week in Tucson

As the second week begins, Bub finishes the plumbing in the education building by caulking the fixtures

and Avis begins reinstalling the refinished cabinet doors.

Midge and Barb continue sanding doors and cabinets

and Stel helps Midge by removing hardware.

Barb applies polyeurothene to the cabinets.

Denny and Gary patched holes in the drywall in the Thrift Shop

and applied mud to the seams.

Cindy and Jack finish rebuilding the porch roof.

Avis sorted through paint to find usable material to paint the playground equipment.

Midge paints some missing cabinet doors we found in storage.

Bub and Steve install 2 used fans in the Thrift Shop.

Jack and Cindy installed new vinyl base in the Education Building.

Denny began sanding the swing set

with the assistance of Gary.

Avis painted the concrete slab while Cindy and Stel take a break fron the work and

Gary takes a brief rest.

Bub tries to make these old light parts into a working fixture for the Thrift Shop and

his work was successful.

Stel helps Avis prepare these porch posts for painting and

Gary begins the painting process.

Those tree stumps have to go so Stel begins to dig around them and

Gary lends a hand.

Stel was able to cut off most of them but this one was a big problem.

Afterward, Jodi helps to refill the holes.

Avis replaces damaged floor tile and baseboard in the men's room and

the ladies room as well.

The Pastor wanted 2 gates installed on both ends of the choir loft to limit weekday traffic so Steve, Denny and Bub begin the design process.

and Bub and Steve begin the construction.

Cindy installs new door stops.

The first of the refinished doors is dry so Steve, Stel and Avis rehang it while

Steve and Bub began removing the sanctuary doors for refinishing and

4 people are needed to carry them so Steve, Bub, Denny and Stel each grab a corner

and Cindy preps by taping the glass.

Avis repaints an exterrior door of the Ed. building to make it more "kid friendly".

Denny and Gary begin repairing @ 200 chairs for the sanctuary by adding screws and wood putty.

Steve and Bub design security bars for the restroom windows and install them, but

They were a tad "ugly" so Avis begins covering them with paint

and Bub reinstalls them.

The vacuum wasn't working when they cleaned after installing the vinyl base so Cindy and Jack set out to fix it.

The door locks to the sanctuary were giving everyone trouble so Steve begins to assess the problem while Bub and Stel look on.  Eventually, the locks had to be replaced.

Avis uses a wire brush to clean these cement vehicle stops and

then she repaints them.

Avis begins painting the bus toy in the playground while
Midge works on the bumble bee and duck and
and Cindy paints the swings

and Avis continues painting other playground toys.

Stel and Pastor Augustin meet to discuss project status and additional work to be done.
Midge is assigned to repaint the speed limit sign

and it is ready to reinstall

And the sun goes down on Week #2
