3rd Week in Taft, TX

As we begin week 3, we are looking at a lot of odd jobs around the church.

They have found another handrail that requires sanding and painting.  Sharon and Carol begin the process
and are joined by Wilma and Duane after they did some final touches on that porch from last week.
Wilma and Duane begin painting
and Mike adds his touches with the spray can.

Meanwhile, Stel begins adding the screen to the frames she and Jodi worked on last week

and Jodi helps hold everthing tight.

We made new, bigger frames for the sun shades and Jodi is giving them a coat of paint.

Then Stel adds the sunscreen with the help of the pneumatic stapler.

and attches them to the window.

The sunscreen is meant to help keep this side office cooler so that a single airconditioner functions better.

The other screens are also installed.
Jodi finds a tool that is more to her liking.

While all this other stuff was going on, Sharon was cleaning some dirty and marred paneling in the Learning Center
and Carol was applying stain with the hopes of hiding the many scratches and marks.
And Wilma, ever the teacher, sorts flash cards.  She just couldn't help herself.
Sharon has moved on to patching holes in drywall in the hallway
and one of the bigger classrooms.
While Carol does some pre-painting cleaning

Sharon finds a suitably sized chair to apply painter's tape.
Carol begins priming with Kilz with Mike looking on.
No more watching Mike, get to work.
Misery loves company so Dave gets drawn into the painting process.  They were going to paint one wall but .......guess the whole room will get a coat.
Another "quick job" they said.  Jodi begins scraping the peeling paint from these sanctuary entry doors.
The "quick job" has now involved 4 people as Stel, Wilma and Duane are scraping
and scraping

Why don't you do the jamb as well?  Why not.
Finally, painting begins with all 4 involved.
In between other jobs, someone noticed a broken table in the Learning Center so Stel cuts a pience to replace it
attaches it and it's ready to go.
Remember we said a lot of odd jobs.  Stel replaces one lock in the Director's office, and
Two more on one of the outside doors.

Duane is trying to shut off the water so they can remove the plumbing from an outdated water fountain inside and
Dave is assisting.

Wilma is trying to place new cork on this bulletin board and Stel gives her a hand.
Next day, Wilma gives the new bulletin board trim a fresh coat of paint.
The week is over and so is the project in Taft, Tx.  Sharon speaks for all of us as she collapses into her car.  Time to head home and we'll see you "down the road".
