2nd Week on Wimberly Disaster Recovery Project

Last weekend was spent washing clothes, grocery shopping, & RV cleaning but we did manage a short trip to view local sites.

This is Canyon Lake just a couple of miles from our campsites.

Another view of the lake looking toward our campsites which are in the hills in the background on the other side of the lake.

Monday, it is back to work.  We did get the bow window put back together on the outside.
Now it's back to work on the inside of the window, once Larry, Stel, Woody and Jodi stop fooling around that is.  We are actually celebrating that the piece of drywall we cut to fit above the bow window actually fits.
Installing side panels of drywall.
Adding caulk inside and out around the window.
Final mudding of the drywall in the bow window.
Last step is cutting trim to fit the bottom of the bow window and make both bows look the same on the inside as all the other window sills in the house.  As nothing is square, special effort is made to make the cuts look square.

If last week was mudding, scraping, sanding and mudding, this week is painting, painting, painting, painting...

Marty (with coaching from Jean)

Keith and Woody installing drywall in the garage adjacent to the kitchen and dining room.
Norm and Larry also hanging drywall.
Stel and Jean adding more paper preparing for texturing.
Woody adding paper also
along with Nancy.
Jodi having too much fun with her touch up project.

Thanks to Larry and Jeane, we were able to rent a larger texturing sprayer.

Here Jean is trying to find the right mixture of mud, water and paint for the texture process.
Larry is test the sprayer and the mixture.
Larry beginning the texture spraying with Jodi holding the light so he could see where he is going.
Keith holding the light so he could learn how to operate the machine.
Then Keith gets his turn with the spraying.
Larry finishing and/or touching up the texture process.

Thanks to the rental sprayer and these folks efforts, we were able to get the entire house textured in one day.
Everyone getting in on the cleanup process.
To celebrate, or just because it's Tuesday, we all went out to Dairy Queen on our way home.  From the left, Marty, Stel, Carol, Jodi, Jean, Suzanne, Nancy, Larry, Woody, Keith, Kris, Norm and Pat.
Then, back to painting, painting ......
and painting.
Still, there are lots of other little projects that need attention.

Norm using "Awesome"  to do an awesome cleaning job on the heat registers.
Pat cleaning and helping Norm to clean and paint all the heat registers.
Thanks to their efforts, we were able to salvage all the registers for reinstallation.
Kris assisting Woody to determine the size of the cabinet for the oven that we need to build.
Norm determining the total number of switch plates and outlet covers we will need.
There are about 18 cats running around this place.  None are allowed into the house so whenever we need to have a door open, we have to post a "guard"  to keep the cats out.  This time, it is Nancy's job to keep the cats out and she's really getting into it.
Clearly, we are all worn out so it's time to head back to camp for the weekend.  See you next week.
