Week 3 in Wichita Falls, Tx

We started week 3 by trying to make a path across the mud toward the office

while inside Iva painted the door between the office and the barn.
The boss said the latches and locks were all loose so we worked on tightening them all.
 Cathy is sorting the shelves.
There was an inside corner missing inside the office hallway so Stel is trying to make a piece to fit
 and then install it.
 Installing the kickplates outside,
and inside.
Iva spent most of the week on the office computer trying to do some of the projects the owner needed.
The fields were so muddy the guys couldn't work on the fence so thoughts turned to attempting to invent a trailer for the help to hall manure from the barn to the compost pile at the rear of the property.  Here heads are joined to try to come up with a plan using this old truck bed trailer.
Warren took on the project and came up with a plan which he shares with one of the staff.
A lot of hard work to transform this vehicle.
 Preparing the bed liner.
And the final product is a trailer with a bed that can be tipped for dumping at the compost pile.
 Looks pretty good.
The rest of the guys worked on items that will be used by the next team to  hang the outside barn doors to protect the horse stalls.
Bill adding yet another motion detector light on the barn.
On Tuesday, the weater broke for 1 short day and we got the opportunity to see the horses and kids at work.  Here the junior volunteers are warming up the horses to prepare them for the classes with the challenged children.

Love to see them run and the idea is to wear them out so they will behave for the classes.
 Junior volunteers riding
and now the challenged children are helped onto the horses
This is a veteran rider and she is putting rings on the peg as part of her therapy.
 This is a younger rider
and they can't get her to hold onto the saddle.  She is soooo cute.
This little toddler is having her first ride and that is why one of the volunteers is with her in the saddle.  The owner, Mary Elizabeth is to the right of the horse holding onto the child to reassure her and at the same time she is teaching the junior volunteers how to handle the children.
On this round, the volunteers are on their own.
Jodi was helping Stel and others all week and she takes all the pictures so we don't get to see her in pictures very often. However, she does manage to sneak off to photo her favorite horse, "Sweetheart"
 now shown in this closeup.
Mid week snowstorn
with significant accumulation (remember this is Texas and it is not supposed to be like this)
By the end of the week, everything warmed up but...it's time to go.
Another team will be here next week and maybe they can get back into the outside projects.  We're moving on and will be in Arkansas in about a week.
