2nd week Tucson, AZ

Additional projects began at the church this week.  The pastor wanted an 8' x 4' wall at the street entrance so they could attach special event announcement banners.

Bill and Stel began digging for the footer for the wall
and installed the footer and rebar to support the wall.
While waiting for the footer to dry, they wanted the palm tree pictured above removed and transplanted elsewhere because it blocked the view of the new sign.
Bill and Stel Dug up the palm tree
moved it to another spot,
and Jodi filled in the hole left behind.
Construction of the wall began one day

and finished the next.
Final work on the wall is cleaning.

Meanwhile, Jane, Bev and Jodi continued the painting inside the church in restrooms and hallways

And then the trio, moved back outside to paint the outside doors to the education building so that each entrance door had a unique color.

The handicapped parking spaces needed new paint so Paul, Shirley and Bill began that process while Stel cleaned up the driveway from the wall construction debris.

Early in the week, work began on laying tile in the church office.  Paul, Jim and Shirley took on that project.

By weeks end, the grouting had begun and will be finished next week.

Next week, we will begin the process of laying a vinyl floor in the youth building.  Bill and Stel unloaded the underlayment for the tile and Stel began preparing the floor for the underlayment.

Then it was time to rest and play so we all went our own ways to enjoy the countryside.  Jodi and Stel spent Friday at the Sabino Canyon National Forest.  The "forest" in this case involves cactai.

Jodi insisted that we show you the sky in this part of the country.  Impressive almost every day.

Riding the tram up to the top of the canyon.

Removing your shoes is necessary to cross the many bridges after last weekends rains.

Early Native Americans used the rocks for mortars to grind the grain.

This much water is very unusual but the rains last weekend were also very unusual.

Some were brave enough to wade in the streams and pools but I assure you, the water was quite cold coming down from the mountain tops.

We were blessed with the chance to tour and yesterday we travelled 2 hours north to Phoenix to have lunch with many other NOMADS who are in Arizona at this time.  @ 50 attended and it was good to see old friends and meet other new ones.  Forgot the camera use your imagination.  Now we're ready to go back to work next week.
